Subject: Engine Damage, please help
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi,

Can anyone shed some light on what kind of engine damage could be done to a 2.1 liter Digifant Wasserboxer (syncro)if it was jump started when the timing might have been retarded?

As soon as van was jumped, there was a horrific, loud clanking (metal on metal) noise comming from somewhere near the crank area. The vans has been driven quite often lately and the engine is new, with about 4000k on it.

I had been playing around with the hall sendor and rotor, and also the injectors the night before... next day it would crank a bit but not start... I foolishly figgured I must have run the battery down the night before, so I jump started it... Instantly started clanking. I ran it like that for a minute or two while I looked around, then shut it off out of fear of doing more damage.

Has NOT been running hot, and has plenty of oil.. no leaks anywhere, except slow slow oil drip.

What might I have done???
