Subject: 1981 Vanagon...Need Advice
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

We just initiated ourselves in the VW world. Always thought VW lovers were, well, a little off. And now I'm beginning to see what the attraction is. I think I'm hooked!

My husband and I just bought an '81 Vanagon for $450.00. Rather blindly too. It has been sitting for a year, bad news, no coil, needs an ignition switch, proabably a clutch and perhaps a new engine.

I originallly bought it for it's propane stove & frig and battery...but we saw that the inside is spotless and the body was in good condition too. We also have a mechanic/friend who used to work for VW when Vanagon came out. He owned a bus and thinks he can do some work with us. So I'm thinking of making the Vanagon our project this year.

So, just with that info, (I know it's not a lot) any initial thoughts about trying to restore this neglected beauty?

Peace & Thanks Kirsten
