Chuck, My '82 has done that a few times. All that has been wrong is that a small plastic gear shifted position. The gear is friction fit tight on the end of a shaft. I roughened up the shaft and put the gear back on. A few years later it happened again and I repeated the proceedure. It is still working fine after about 18K miles more. On the way to work this AM my odometer read 111,111 and the trip meter read .1 (I cleared it for fun at 111,111.0 Naturally the actual miles are a few more because of the gear problem! George Lehman in Superior, Wisc. (formerly Racine, Wisc.) Westy, bought hot off the boat in 1982. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
