I've done exactly what you are considering. My '84 throttle body shaft was badly worn, and I was able to get a good used throttle body from an '85 model. The two switches on the old one are wired in parallel, so it wasn't a problem to go to the single switch. I was also lucky enough to get the '85 wiring harness connector so just cut off the '84 connectors and spliced in the new one. It works just fine.

Does anyone know if the old type throttle body with the two throttle switches can be swapped for the new type with just one switch? Can I just move the whole assembly (throttle body with switch attached from a 1985 to an older 1984 that has the dual switches) from the 1985 to the 1984?
