Find a small hill where you can safely coast down, put the transmission in neutral and turn off the engine. BE SURE that you do not turn the key to the lock position, as this will lock the steering wheel. If your van has power steering, you will find the wheel is harder to turn, and the brakes will no longer have power assist. (Remember, I said a small, safe hill.) If the sound goes away when you turn off the engine, then it is somehow related to the engine. If it remains, and seems to change as your speed changes, then it is probably related to the wheels or brakes. Come back when you have done this test and be sure to note any other details of the sound that you can. Larry |
