I have a 1980 air cooled automatic transmission Vanagon and want to fit a 1990-1997 Jetta or golf engine. Can someone give advice about this conversion. Will the converted vehicle behave ok, I am especially thinking about gear changes that can be affected by the difference in torque/rpm between the Air coolled engine and the jetta engine. What are the best places to buy Transmission-Engine fittings and engine-Frame brackets? For me performance is not an issue. Reliability is. Sylvain Belanger
