Subject: Leak at coolant recovery tank
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi there,

I'm still leaking some coolant after my recent head gasket replacement. At least some of the leak is coming from around the coolant level sensor at the primary coolant reservior tank. When the head gaskets were done, I had seen traces of coolant at this tank so I had the mechanic put on a new cap and coolant level sensor O-ring that I had ordered from Bus Depot. However, it still appears to be leaking some around the sensor area.

Here's my questions - would replacing the coolant level sensor itself help to eliminate this leak? Or should I just go ahead and have the tank itself replaced? I had expected the new O-ring to stop the leaking here, but it didn't and now I'm wondering if I need a new sensor, tank, or both.

Thanks in advance for your advice,

Steve
