Bob, Roy claims to be able to pop the top with his Thules mounted to the original rain gutters... he positioned them above the luggage rack and behind the rear pop top hinge. To tell you the truth, I'm not so sure the original rain gutter will hold more than installing fake rain gutter mounts to the fiberglass... Probably, but I have heard of the original rain gutters cracking and breaking at the spot welds when awnings are mounted to them. I have never heard of a fake rain gutter mounted to the fiberglass failing.
