Jason, IMHO, one of the best features about the thermoelectric coolers is that they are very well insulated. They have to be, or that tiny amount of cooling those things generate would be lots. We freeze either a gallon jug of water or a 2- quart plastic applesauce container filled with water and stick it in there. The gallon jug will keep things cold for the better part of 4-5 days. When we were on the road longer, we packed some of those cooling gelpacks and running the cooler while driving (and thus having power to spare) was enough to cool the gelpacks to keep our stuff from spoiling. Works for us. YMMV. -Karl Karl and Kristina Bloss, Trexlertown, PA '87 GL Weekender "Beverley" - 185K miles VW Mechanic list: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/vwshops Busses by the Trail - Oct 15-17, 1999: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/bbtt PA/NJ Vanagon owner's mailing list: http://www.onelist.com/subscribe/pavanagon |
