This morning I put the rear of the van on jackstands, preparing to re-shoe the drums. I held my Beck Arney new brake shoes up against the old shoes, which are still on the wheel, and the front shoe new brake material is about 1 1/2 inches shorter on each end of the shoe than my old shoe. The rear new shoe brake material is 1 1/2 longer at the bottom than my old shoe. The metal backing on both shoes is exactly the same size on old and new shoes. What is the meaning of this difference in size? What are the best shoes and shoe size to use? Thanks! Christina and Mike Nichols, Atlanta '81 7 pass. |
