Hi Stephen, I had two old crusty motors laying around, I'll try and clear off the workbench and see if I can find one. Its been a while since Ive been inside of one...where exactly is the spring you are talking about? Is it in the actual motor itself, or inside the casing? Sounds like you have already made sure that the motor is faulty, but I had a recent cycling problem (all the locks going haywire), that was a result of a bad connection between the sliding door and the body. Turns out the four copper (is that what it is, copper??) 'plates' on the connector (sliding door side) had been worn and pushed back inside. I was able to fix the problem by removing the connector and using a flat head screw driver to shove the copper plates out a little bit from the backside of the connector. This allowed the connector from the sliding door to make contact with the connector on the body and solved the problem briefly. Turns out when I would slam the sliding door, the copper plates would get pushed back in, so I pushed them back out and then inserted a tiny piece of metal into the gap I now had between the plastic and plate. Did this for all 4 plates and have not had the problem since. Kind of wierd trivia, but might save someone from having to buy the $35 new connector for a while.. Cheers, Jeff |
