Apologies in advance as this is a bit off-list-topic - thought someone might be interested, though... I've rented a 14' U-Haul truck and car trailer for the weekend of 9/18 one-way from Ottawa, ON to Portland, ME in order to transport a non-driveable '68 Land Rover I've purchased. I really didn't need to rent such a big truck, but it was the only thing available that could tow a trailer one-way from Canada. (I truthfully don't think my Vanagon would make it across NH towing 2500 extra pounds!) Anyway, the rental truck will be mostly empty, so I was wondering if anyone on the list had any large objects (transmissions, engines, etc. - stuff that'd be really expensive to ship via freight) they might need moved somewhere along the route (Ottawa - Montreal - NH - ME) in exchange for contributing to the cost of the truck. Note that any customs paperwork or duty would have to be taken care of by you, as I am no expert in those matters. I could stuff at my place in Yarmouth for a short time until you could pick it up. Or if anyone has a more creative idea for transporting the vehicle - it's not too late to cancel my reservations and I'm open to suggestions! Thanks! Doug Fitz-Randolph Yarmouth, ME '90 Syncro |
