Subject: Any interest in different 4th gears for Vanagon?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I have the oppurtunity to buy some nicer 4th gear sets for the manual tranny Vanagons 83-91. These sets change the 4th gear from a .85 gear to a .78 gear. This allows you to go down the road at a lower rpm. This would be great for those with either a 2.1l waterboxer or a converted Vanagon with a more powerful powerplant . A 1.9l Vanagon might have troubles with hills with this taller gearing (you would have to shift down sooner) but this is just my idea it could be fine. The gear sets are $399 and are new OEM german (or european) stuff. You would still need to install the new gearing or have it installed by a local shop or during your next tranny rebuild. Let me know if there is an interest in this or not. Thanks Ken Wilford Van-Again John 3:16
