For you it may be a leash, but for me it's a tool, and one that makes my business -- selling and servicing computers in a VERY rural area -- possible. I use my phone several times a day, usually while stopped, but not always. I use it to keep in contact with clients, get directions, reschedule, and every now and then to call AAA.

Many of my clients are ranchers, and I spend a couple of days a week driving to places that are AT LEAST 50 miles from the nearest gas station, and sometimes much further from the nearest town. I have also summoned ambulances or firefighters on numerous occasions, and several times the nearest land line phone was 45 minutes away.

In my part of the US, SE Arizona, cell phones are much more of a lifeline than a leash. Just because something isn't useful to you doesn't mean it isn't useful. It must be hard to park in a mind that narrow.

Bill (SE Arizona) (Bill@freeholder.com) HTTP://www.freeholder.com ---------------------------------------------------------- It ain't what you don't know that hurts you, it's what you do know that's wrong.
