Hi Tony -- There are a number of us here in SLC. Maybe even an unusually large number ;)

A good place for parts is Baxter's Imparts, I like them best. An older guy who works there (named Buddy) is especially easy to deal with. If you want to see him blanch, try talking to him about a catalytic converter for an '81 Vanagon. There is European-Japanese who carry lots of VW stuff, and Imparts likewise.

Can't give you any good tips on repair 'cause I really don't have experience with any repair shops... I do my own work.
