It is NOT the only option, but the last option may not happen in the US... The regular front passenger seat can be replaced with a 2-seater bench. Almost all delivery Transporters had 3 seats up front, nothing more. I believe all S'cab pickups had this seat as well as some D'cabs. The 9 passenger bus also had this seat, of course.
