<< BUT..............

I stopped by a windshield shop. They asked me if I ever saw water running up the inside of the windshield gasket, claiming that unless I did, the water is coming from elsewhere. >>

Steve: Two perspectives -- I worked for several years in a glass shop, where we did a considerable amount of auto glass, indeed we had one guy who did ONLY auto glass. In all of those years, I never heard mention of seeing the water "running up" as described. I was not that auto glass guy, and can't say unequivocably that this condition doesn't exist, but we resealed many windsheilds without requiring that test... My 84 had the same problem, resulting in water in the footwells after every decent rainstorm. Urethane sealant, aplied on the outside, between the gasket and the glass, solved the left side leak. Now that rain has started to fall in PA again, I find the right side still leaks. I'll have to try resealing again... Doug 84 Westy, 83.5K 68 Beetle, 93K 98 Passat, 17K
