Why convert? The 2L T4 engine is easily able to increase power to 130 to 150 HP or more. I built one for my 73 that enables my van to cruise at 75+ and go to 100+ and still get @30 MPG at 65 . Change the cam, exhaust, ignition, a little head work crank work, a few other tricks and it will fly.

The T4 engine is becoming the engine of choice for many T1 engine replacements.
