I'm refinishing the wheels on a BMW with Wurth silver metalic paint and then clear coat. This is supposed to exactly match the factory finish of most painted German wheels. Also supposed to be a very durable paint. Check out the how to articles at http://www.carcareonline.com/howto_articles.html. One of them discusses wheels. I purchased the paint and clear coat directly from Wurth California www.wurthwest.com/wurthcal.html. Comes in spray cans. Not cheap (just under $15 a can) so I hope it's wurth it. Sorry. BTW, Wurth has tons of car care products available that I've heard are pretty good stuff, although I've never tried them.

>>> joe friedrichs <joefried@JAVANET.COM> 09/08/99 04:20PM >>> I have recently purchased a set of carat wheels which are in need of sanding and refinishing. I'm thinking of painting them a slightly darker grey than original, and then clear coating over that. -the wheels now have the coating chipping off and are scraped up where wheel weights were previously on them. They also have various scratches.- My question is what type of primer / clear coat should I use on alloy wheels or should I just clear coat. Will clear coating darken the wheels.
