I read the FAQ about blue LEDs with great interest, with blue instrument lights in mind. I love the blue lights in New VWs, and would like to duplicate this for my van. Blue filters or paint aren't any good, they rob too much light, so I have been thinking of blue LEDs. What I understand from this article is that blue LEDs are expensive and hard to make. Also that they haven't been on the market for too long.

So, what about the blue LED in the high beam indicator light? Does anyone know where I can get those, and is that one one of the types described in this article? VW has been using it for years, and in great numbers, too, so it cant be hard to find elsewhere. Or is it a LED i another color with a blue filter? If anybody know, speak up. I cant wreck a lot of good VW instruments to et enough blue LEDs!

Btw, Hella is researching LEDs in taillights, check out http://www.hella.de/indexe.htm to see if you can find any info.
