What VW has been developing is an integrated fuel pump into the cylinder head. Extra "bumps" on the camshaft will help to supply fuel directly to the injectors via and appropriate assembly. This increases the potential fuel pressure and makes a more rapid and accurate injection with even smaller fuel particles. One of the problems was that the injector has to "leak" a small amount of fuel before the main injection to initiate the ignition process (after all it's a Diesel). The actual timing and amount of injectorate is controlled electronically.

Comprende? :)
