Heard this before and felt I got cheated because I believed it. "I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE" a VW dealer service manager said to me regarding to my head leak 3 years ago. Of course he never did mention the "secret" free head replacement offered by VWoA at that time! I guess this is the VW way to treat their loyal customers!

There was a recall on 87-89(?) Vanagon's with exactly the same description on fuel hose/clamps problems (check NHTSA website). May be you can use that as another proof of bad design. They may still use the same clamps!

I have exactly the same feeling against the VWoA since I'm a loyal VW customer too. I wish VWoA can wake up and treat us a little better!
