Subject: 81 Westy - Electrical/Fridge/2nd Battery question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi all,

This is my first post to the group and from what I have been reading, I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to my question.

Here is my question. I am installing a second battery for in a Westy (1981), for the fridge. I'm wiring the thing up now and am noticing two wire feeding under the divers seat. The first is a fused red one. I have that one figured out. The second is a white wire. It does not have an in-line fuse and connects to a thinner blue wire by a insulated solder less connector. This second wire has no current running through it regardless if the key is in the ignition and accessories running or not.

I need to know what is the function of this second wire. Does it need a positive current at all times or only when the accessory key is on? Or is it even a positive wire? Is it possible it is a ground wire for something? Basically what does it supply to? Currently the westy was not wired to accept a second battery. Everything had to be added.

Thanks in advance for any help. I can't put the driver's seat back in until I figure this out!

Regards, Mark
