I must admit that I haven't found a "cold start valve" on my "84 vanagon waterboxer" nor a cold start injector? Please excuse my ignorance, I don't even find it in the Bently except under "air cooled" . I 've never had the "privalege" of working on a watercooled vw before so I am a little green here! I can bring the diesel back from the dead or the air cooled for that matter. But I'm running out of hair to pull out with this one. I did take the suggestions that I've recieved thus far, I checked to make sure the contacts were clean on the ecm, which I just installed last weekend, but I did double check anyway! I'm still trying to get it going! And to answer the other question yes I did a compression check before I started this whole project, and if I remember right it was ok pretty even all the way across , and yes the wires are on right, 1-4-3-2 and they start #1 on the mark on the edge of the dist. I didn't look to see if this was about 4 o'clock or not, but I guess it would be right around there! Thanks for the input so far! Tom
