The company that does the Audi V6 conversions here in Bremen, Germany, was trying to get the Audi V8 into the vanagon. They gave up, I believe, because too much metal had to be cut away between the engine compartment and the rear end of the van... Maybe they got it working in the meantime, but I never heard about it...
