>> I am looking for 2 new Michelin 205 70 R14 MXL tires (original >> tires on Syncros) to put on my Tristar. I want to put everything back >> original on the vehicle. From time to time I have seen them on the list >for >> sale and am wondering if there are any around still. > >Todd, >Don't think you can get any new MXL's other than find it from somebody else >spare tires with original German air (in case of Syncro, Austrian air). That's what I had in mind. There must be several Syncros out there that have never had the spare replaced when the four tires on the vehicle were changed. I have seen a couple in the last year. >Michelin discontinued reinforced MXL's several years ago (too many >defect/blow-out??) and use the reinforced MXT's as a substitute. I'd not >get any MXL's because of my past experience. 3 out of 5 my original MXL >205/70-14 97T Reinforced tires blew out on the highway and the rest 2 had >tread separations. I know about the MXL problems. I lost a couple myself on my Syncro Westy, but I am trying to make the tires on the Tristar , as another list member said, "historically correct". I don't put a lot of miles on the Tristar so I think the tires will not cause me troubles. |
