Hello all,
For about a month I've been trying to diagnose a misfire in my '80 Vanagon with California emissions (electronic ignition). The misfire only occurs under load and the van runs normal at idle. I've asked for help from both lists and tried everything you so kindly suggested with no success. Here's what I've tried if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. 1) new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor 2) new fuel filter 3) cleaned and adjusted AFM 4) new temp II sensor 5) set ignition timing 6) cleaned and checked all grounds
Some additional information: The problem was intermittent and has gotten progressively worse. I pulled each plug wire to determine if that might be a problem. Strangely enough there was no change in engine idle when I pulled the number 2 wire. I checked the wire and it provides a spark and I've changed the plug with one I know is good. This cylinder seems to only fire intermittently. What could be the cause of this? I'm sure this is a strong candidate for my misfire/performance problems.
Sorry for the length, I'm just getting pretty frustrated. Thanks for all of your help past and present.
