1989 VanagonGL Well, unfortunately I did not heed my low coolant level indicator light and suffered the consequences. According to the gauge the engine was not overheating. None the less I fried the motor. Crankcase oil was burnt and zero compression. I have agreed to have the motor replaced and am curious if $3000-$3500 is reasonable. This will of course include labor(it had better) and at least a 1 year warranty perhaps more. Doing this every 3 years doesn't trouble me as much as having to buy one of the new boring, nondescript, uninventive, typical looking, over priced, Eurovans. Any comments? |
