Merv, Installed a "Gas Low" (brand name) propane indicator gauge inline between the shutoff valve and pressure regulator. (Check Northern catalog or RV places) Moved the pressure regulator over a bit to the left. It's sort of like an inline pressure gauge with a scale. The reading varies according to air temperature (you can make your own marks with a marker on the scale, full to empty, etc.)

Discovered later that one added benefit of the gauge is: that it tells me at a glance if the gas pipes are leaking and that the shutoff valve is functioning. How does it tell me that? To test for leaks: If you turn off the main shutoff valve, the gauge should continue to show pressure for some time after (if the stove valve and frig valves and any other gas appliances are turned off and not leaking).

To test the operation of the main shutoff valve (on tank): Turn off shutoff valve, turn on the stove for a few seconds to release the propane pressure, the gauge should continue to show no pressure.

Have fun. Harald '90 westy
