Driving home from work today, the throttle on my '84 stuck. I'd gone about 5 miles, and was accelerating after a stopsign/turn. I noticed the engine revving when I shifted, and the pedal felt like it wasn't up all the way. I pulled over and checked the engine. The throttle was definitely not in idle position, not even close to the idle switch. Tried to gently pull it back, but it wouldn't go. The spring was on, and everything looked like it should be working ok. The cable was snug, but not taut. Wiggling it didn't help. I nursed it home, but it was too wet to climb under. (Thanks Floyd). I'd say it's stuck at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle. I can still accelerate beyond that, but it only returns that far. Anyone run into this before, or have any ides what would cause it? Something binding the cable underneath? TIA, John Flaherty Standish ME '84 Vanagon GL '84 Rabbit |
