Stuart, I would use the stock studs. If the studs do not grow with the engine as it heats, to maintain correct torque over the heat range, the studs might eventually pull out of the case over time. This was a problem for early T1 engines when VW switched to 10 mm studs, this was done to give more thread holding power, but the studs pulled out of the block or broke after time due to improper expansion rates. VW then switched to 10 mm threads with a taper to 8 mm in the center.

The stronger studs with a different metal composition than the stock studs might prove to be detrimental over time.
