Subject: Marvel Mystery Oil; CD-2 Oil Detergent- Additives
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Out of curiosity, I have been experimenting with adding these two additives to my gas and oil respectively. I really wasn't expecting much, but I was very surprised:

The "Marvel Mystery Oil" (available at Longs and NAPA) immediately increased my avg highway mileage to 19mpg from 15mpg -- and I have experienced a noticeable increase in power.

The CD-2 Oil Detergent, I believe, has helped to quiet some low level "tapping/clacking" in the engine -- and overall the engine is runs noticeably smoother with the CD-2 added.

I was surprised how well these seemed to work, and I mentioned my results to the guy at NAPA parts and he nodded his head knowingly and said "yeah, snake oil that actually WORKS!" (That was my reaction too.) He said that he sells a lot of the Marvel Mystery Oil in partcicular, and has a lot of customers who swear by it!

Anyone use these and had similar experiences? Any problems with using additives in vanagons? Any other additives that people have found helpful?

Thanks.

Tony
