It actually had three knobs? Like real VW knobs? This would really mean that this car has a center lock too, but I never believe it does. Only a handful of cars were built with this option, and I believe none were as late as 88. Of course, it could still have the front diff lock, but there is also possible that some owner found a nice place t mount switches for various options there. I know other Syncro owners have done this.
