Subject: AUXILIARY BATTERY ALTERNATIVE QUESTION
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

The original issue VW/AUDI auxiliary battery in my '85 Westy Wolfsburg Weekender is shot. Guys at the local battery stores laughed at me when I asked for a deep cycle to fit. After listening to my tale of woe a friend (how good a friend may depend on how this works out) offered to trade some services for one, possibly two, Sears Diehard Marine Deep Cycle 110 a/h batteries. They're new and un-used since they won't fit his bass boat. Can one or both of these be used for the auxiliary battery? I know they're not going to fit in the box under the drivers seat so I'm thinking of mounting them under the rear facing jump seat a few inches back. Anybody care to offer opinions on 1) the best way to rig hold downs, 2) modifications to the existing wiring (for a single installation and a double), 3) modifications to the vent? Any web sites out there tat could help? Mechanically I'm pretty good but electrically I get tripped up over words a little more complex than plus, minus and ground.

Thanks Chuck cmathis227@aol.com '85 Westy (Roland) 45K '89 Honda Civic Wagon (That Ol' Thang) 116K and all right for a rice burner.
