Subject: syncro driveshaft alignment

The Bentley manual says to mark the flanges before removing the driveshaft on a syncro. This makes sense if you're reinstalling the same driveshaft but what if you're installng a new or different one? Do you need to insure that the flanges on the tranny and diff are in the same relative position?
