Brent,
Sorry to tell you that after 14 years of searching, I still did not find
a good and trustful VW shops in Dallas area. Central VW is the largest
dealer in town. But they screwed my Jetta and Syncro several times when
these cars were still under warranty. And I still remember when my Syncro
developed the head leak 4 years ago, the service manager of Central VW
told me that HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE! and that made me missed
the "free" head replacement offered by VWoA at that time.
I guarantee that after you moved to Dallas, you'll miss the California.
I've been dreaming to relocate to CA from Dallas for the last 20 years!
In Dallas it's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. And in
the very short spring and fall with nice temperature, we have hail storm
and tornado. Of course your Westy will be useless here since there are
very few good state parks with big trees around. And there is no mountains
unless you drive 800 miles to reach one. All of that explains why nobody
wants a VW Westy but pickups here.
Oh, I've been told several times by Central VW that my Syncro may be the
only one in Dallas. Now he may have a companion soon.
Regards,
Yi-Ruey Wei
