Hello; I have an 87 GL, while I was getting a little muffler welding done when the mechanic noticed a little fuel leak from the capped end of the little fuel manifold which hovers over the injectors on the right side of the engine. My wife drove the van home worried that it would burst into flames at any moment. I took the air cleaner box off and tried to tighten the hose clamps down, as it appeared to be leaking from the front fuel hose. Tightening the hose didn't help as fuel still weeped. I called my FLAPS, they wanted $182 for that little manifold, about the size of a half smoked cigar. Luckily for me Ole's VW Repair had a "slightly used" one for $30. I installed that and ran the engine it seems to have solved the problem. The leak is from the end cap, which seems to me that it would be easy to seal using seal-all or epoxy. I wonder if anyone has had any sucess with this repair. Larry |
