Can anyone let me know of a really good machine shop or engine rebuilder in the Greater Vancouver area (BC, Canada) that would be familiar with 1983 (water-cooled) engines? We have poor Moby's engine all apart, after degradation due to chunk of valve guide breaking off into cylinder, and need to spec out what's left of the head, plus pistons/sleaves etc. to see what's useable, & ultimately whether it's the end of her economic lifetime or not...
(nb, surprisingly, besides the obvious valve guide failure, in 2 or 3 of the other cylinders we found other, smaller bits of metal that were causing less serious damage... so far we can't tell where these bits of metal are from... as a point of curiosity, has anyone else run into this?)
