I had asked this question a couple years ago but went another route so I'll ask again. Has anybody stripped off the contact paper panel/headliner coverings and painted the panels? I glued cloth over some but was hard to keep clean. Anybody ever put soft headliner material on their headliner wood panel? Any suggestions as to what kind of paint? Should I paint it to look like wood grain? Just trying to figure out a winter project.

BTW I just made new curtains for my westy for a total cost of about $20.00 (didn't include windshield curtain as it was fine). Bought 5 yards of matrial from the bargain bin, used the permanent iron on hem stitching (Stitch Witchery, no sewing). My curtains hang from a thin strip of metal, no curtain hooks so all I had to do was make a rectangle with a big folded over to slip the metal strip thru. Took a couple hours though, look good. Snaps were grommetted on just like the originals. I did put a few stitches on each corner just to make sure they held up to tugging.
