Subject: Today's Chapter of the EV Fire Story.....

Hi All,

It all started out innocently enough....a collegue directed me to the Car Talk website to try the "Car-o_Scope" which is supposed to show you how close your personality type is matched to the car you drive. So I tried it. Then I noticed that on the website was a link that would give info on certain models and years of various makes...things like recall notices, Alldata reports, etc. So off I went looking for the elusive EV Engine Fire report.

At www.cartalk.cars.com/tools/car-report.pl I began to search for Complaint Reports on the 1993 EuroVan. This search engine is attached to the NHTSA website. Well, as you all know, I've been to that website before, as hopefully most of you 93 EV owners have.

To my surprise, what I got was a summary page of complaints about EVs from NHTSA....80 to be exact. Out of the 80 complaint reports, there were 12 incidents of engine fires caused by fuel leaks as well as one fuel leak incident w/o an engine fire.

I'm not sure why the direct path to the NHTSA complaint website doesn't list all of these incidents, but I am glad I was able to accidentally bump into this one.

If you have the chance, go to the URL mentioned above and check it out for yourself.

Ric
