Steve,

My a/c is the front mounted kind, but yours may be suffering from similar problems.

I recently tore my a/c unit apart in an effort to find the source of water that was running out the vents. While doing this I discovered that just about every bit of foam sealing tape had disintegrated and that there were big openings for tubing/hoses between the cold box and the outside.

The water was leaking out of a broken drain hose connection (fixed with the help of J-B Weld). When I reassebeled the unit, I replaced all of the foam and double sided sticky tape and I used aluminium foil duct tape to seal up all of the holes. In addition I added foam insulation around the pressure hose on the inside of the cool air box and reapplied the black sticky insulation tape to the metal connectors between the hoses and the evaporator.

The pressure hose is hot and it ran right through the cold air box to get to the evaporator! I am thinking about adding insulation to the whole thing because heat loss from that hose = cooling loss from the a/c (I think).

Good Luck,
