The metal crimp holds on a plug-type cap which seals with an O-ring -- the crimp has no sealing function except to keep the plug from flying out under 40 psi of fuel pressure. I have fixed one where the crimp corroded away by clamping around the circumference with a regular band clamp (US type), then staking down several points at the edges of the clamp. If the O-ring is bad, I'm sure you can find a replacement. If the body is cracked I wouldn't mess with it.
