Malcom, I would think that with the fiberglass top the more of the foam gunwale pads the better to spread out the load over the largest surface area. You may also want to get a couple of cross straps to attach to the rain gutters to further stabilize from wind buffeting. It goes without saying that you should tie down bow and stern. And one more thing...pad up the space inbetween the bed and the top to help minimise excess flexing (but some flexing is good). Later,
