If anyone can give me some direction that would be great. I have a shifting problem in my 3 speed auto vanagon. I can only get the transmission to shift into second manually - by this, I change the throttle position to allow the shift from first to second. Otherwise it seems to rev to 4000 and stay in the gear that it is in. Once into second, the clutch slips unless you apply power slowly. -I have changed a very dirty filter -there is enough transmission fluid. -cleaned the governer -cleaned the second gear brake band piston -tried adjusting the 2nd gear band -tried adjusting the kickdown My present thinking is that the brake band is defective or a valve is malfunctioning - sticky from a very dirty filter. many thanks, joseph |
