Hi John, Your '85 should have a 1.9L engine. If you, or someone else has retrofitted a 2.1, then I apologize correcting you. You should not have to adjust the stop. It will affect idle, but can also make the accelerator linkage hang up. The idle screw on a 1.9 is that big slotted screw on the side of the throttle body, (it faces up and toward the rear of the van at approximately 45 degrees). You should be able to turn this screw in to reduce the idle rpms. If this doesn't work, something else upstream is most likely out of whack. Idle speed should be around 850rpm.
