Subject: loose input shaft on syncro front diff
Comments: To: syncro@onelist.com

I was installing a new driveshaft in my syncro yesterday and noticed that the input shaft to the front diff has some play in it. The shaft doesn't feel like it's securely mated with the VC. I estimate the amount of play to be about 5 degrees or so, enough so that you get a good clanking sound when you twist the driveshaft flange back and forth. From looking at the Bentley it appears that you may be able to remove this shaft without removing the diff and splitting the case. Is this so?
