The European cars just simply have a longer muffler, that is just as wide as the muffler & cat combo together. I also believe you can get straight pipes to put in in the place of the cat, so called test pipe. The only thing you should check up on, is how the tail pipe will match up to the body, if you move the muffler in the cat elimination process.
