On the contrary, I can only enlarge your list of possible causes: another possible culprit might be the Air Flow Meter. First, there's another temperature sensor in there. Electrically this one is the same as the Temp II sensor, so if you get the temperature/Ohms diagram from a Bentley manual (or maybe from somewhere on the Web, I don't know whether it's included in the Haynes manual) you can check both this sensors using an Ohm-meter. Second there's a variable resistor in there which is mechanically driven by a flap in the intake air stream. Impeded mechanics in the Air Flow Meter depending on ambient engine temperature, or even simple, temperature dependent leakage between Air Flow Meter and engine may cause a wide range of symptoms.
