I have removed and replaced mine by only removing the instrument cover. Remove the black plastic on the stem by sliding it up and off. Loosen up and remove the nut and washer. Go inside and with a pair of plyers, pop the stem out of the wiper transmission. This is NOT easy and you need to have small/med hands. Be careful not to bend the transmission assembly. Lube the ball socket (I use SO2 grease) and pop the replacement back in. Again, this is NOT easy. You will have to use the plyiers to pop it back in the socket. Bentley shows removing the entire wiper transmission by undoing all the nuts and bolts holding the transmission in. To access this, you remove the glove box (or drop open) and slide the transmission out the passenger side. Do not remove the dash. I tried this method, but could not remove and slide the %^$# out!
