Volks, After three months i think I found the reason my 81 won't run more than 3 seconds, the temp sensor on the #3 cylinder is bad, I got the spare parts from this Engine from '79 westie to '81 AirCool (thanks to everyone that replied, this engine was hit from the rear and i would need a sawzall to cut away enough body to free it also I noticed that the PO took all of the cooling doors off the engine, thermostats, etc.) So I subbed the sensor in on my 81' and the van ran for close to twenty minutes, but when trying to remove it I snapped it off in the head of the cylinder. Is it possible to drill this out, looks like I'll need to remove all of the fuel injector gear on that side to make an attempt. If I can't get it out can it be mounted any where else and still function normally. Thanks Joe |
